The San José de la Montaña Sanctuary is the first sanctuary built in honour of Saint Joseph. It was built thanks to the determination, faith and devotion of Beata Petra de San José, and the immense devotion of the people of Barcelona to the figure of Saint Joseph. The people nicknamed it the one on the mountain, as it had to be climbed up a small hill, which had not been built on at first.
